The river almost swallowed us here in Memphis this week,
it looks like it will recede although very slowly. Cooler weather
is coming this weekend also in time for the annual Memphis in May
BBQ contest, moved
to the fairgrounds because of the flooding.

Our band Swampkatz is getting ready to play out
often and I can't wait to entertain and make some money too.

I returned to Memphis Saturday after the funeral service for my mother, who was loved far more than she ever knew.
The days and weeks and months ahead will be forever
changed and I will miss her so much, but she is free of the pain and misery she endured the past two months in the hospital.

Well it's May 19th and we're headed for more rain this week.

So many people were taken from their homes just

two weeks or so ago by flooding. Is God trying to tell us to move to higher ground or what?

I am excited to be playing music again with a friend down the street and a drummer he knows. We already have a big outdoor party to play on July 4th, which is on a Sunday this year.

Should be great fun. Come to Zinnie's East on Madison

in Memphis on July 4th and see us play about sunset, but come around 3 to see all the bands . . . .

Something horrible happened to my computer last Thursday.

A website I visited gave my hard drive a nasty virus and I spent days getting rid of it. Tried all the free methods and wound up buying a decent spyware program called Spyware Doctor, which searched and removed the nasty bugs and keeps an eye out now for incoming trouble too.
At least the warm weather is making it's way back here after a really cold winter with more ice and snow than we usually see here in memphis. I am really psyched about seeing Jeff Beck next month down at the river. This will be my third time to witness him live and probably the last, unless he decides to tour every year. Fat chance of that.....

I went outside with Wendy at 8 this morning and it
was really cool outside. Felt a little like fall coming though I know it isn't for
awhile yet. Then we rode to the store with the windows down and

It was a sunny day, May 26th, 1979 when I took a plunge into darkness at a little Catholic chapel in Fox Meadows, little knowing the horrible mistake I was about to make that would change my life for the next eight years. That I survived to tell this story, so others could avoid my fate is all

Fall is officially here and I can't believe soon it will be time for
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Election time is
just over a month away . . . I made a video starring my dog Wendy
yesterday using my new Flip camera. It is fun to use and I suggest everyone
go out and get one.

festival time is here

I am so ready for the cooper young fest to be here in two more days.
we will all meet tonight for the art party/kickoff thing we have on the thursday before
the festival and watch the 4k race tomorrow night at a friends house. saturday all my friends with stuff to sell will set up their booths and chairs for us lazy visitors to sit in. Lots of live music and food to smell cooking . . .

August is rushing by pretty fast. Lots of things to do coming up at the beginning of next month.
I went today to see the new woody allen movie Vicki Christina Barcelona and it was every bit as good as the reviews I've read so far. I recommend it highly. . . .

I am still smoking and living a nightmare thinking about quitting. I have the inhalers but everyday I chicken out and go get another pack. I keep thinking I'll do it TOMORROW

Finally got some relief from the awful heat indexes of 105 degrees we've had lately.
A cool rain came day before yesterday and it feels great out early in the morning.
Fall will arrive not too soon for me.

It's two days away from August and I just quit smoking and I am going nuts
with cravings. I am using the Commit lozenges and they are strong, but give me some heartburn.
I wanted to start a blog to have something to play with online regarding appearance and using codes, etc.
